From broke graduate student to figurehead of Relief Records and house music royalty, Green Velvet—aka Cajmere—has arguably shaped the modern landscape of funky house and techno, and is bringing his signature Chicago sound to Portland alongside O.G. DnB maestro and founder of Reprazent Records, Roni Size.
Most recently, Green Velvet continues to dominate the airwaves with his monthly Relief Podcast and regularly top the charts with Relief Records releases, including tracks from Walker & Royce, Will Clarke, Camelphat, and Prok & Fitch to name a few. But decades later, tracks like “Coffee Pot” (It’s Time for the Percolator), “Get With U”, and “Brighter Days” show no signs of losing steam, packing dancefloors and regularly finding themselves in the tracklists of today’s biggest names in techno and house.
With nearly 30 years in the scene, Ryan Williams—aka Roni Size—has become one of the U.K. jungle scene’s most respected names. From his collaborations with Method Man and ex-Rage Against the Machine’s Zack De La Rocha to his numerous influential releases on Full Cycle, Talkin’ Loud, and Dope Dragon, Roni Size continues to change the game with his world-class, driving drum and bass grooves.
